Diversity as a Business Strategy |
| A diverse
business strategy will improve the relationship of
the business with employees, suppliers, customers
and the community at large. This session will
present the audience with outcomes related to the
development of a business strategy to address
diversity issues. This forum will also discuss
work factors that affect a diverse climate to
develop in a business environment and the role of
cultural competence in managing an effective
business. Lastly, participants will be given a
framework to begin assessing how areas in their
current business can benefit from maximizing a
diverse workforce. |

2
What is Cultural Competency and what does it look
like? |
| The focus and
objective of this training is to give the audience
a basic understanding of cultural competence. This
training includes experiential exercises to focus
the audience on conducting a self-assessment. A
broad perspective is presented encompassing race,
ethnicity and gender, as well as other factors.
Finally, participants will become familiar with
the stages (or continuum) of cultural competency
and will be able to assess where they and the
organization may currently lie in the continuum.
This training will discuss examples that reflect
cultural competence and the ongoing process
individuals and organizations may go through while
dealing with these issues. |

Cultural Competency, Program Development and
Strategic Planning |
| This training
offers participants tangible strategies for
implementing a cultural competency program within
their practice. The focus is on implementation
tactics using “no-cost,” “low-cost,” and
“higher-cost” interventions in program design.
Participants will utilize a framework to discuss
strategic programmatic areas related to cultural
competency. |

4
Lighten-up About Diversity:
An Hour with Lori and Bob and other “Gremlins” |
| This
presentation will discuss the personal aspects of
diversity and the workplace. The presenter will
teach the audience how humor can make a difference
in dealing with difficult areas in the workplace.
Teaching cultural competence can be fun and
entertaining. |

5
Cultural Competency and Leadership Development |
| This training
provides an introduction to practical approaches
to leadership development utilizing cultural
competency principles. Leadership development is a
logical progression for an organization that has
acquired the basics of cultural competence. This
training will introduce basic tools and concepts
in leadership development that will be useful in
strategic development, planning and relationship
building with external stakeholders. The focus of
the presentation will be for the audience to
discus which tools are necessary for an
organization to represent and promote their values
to external stakeholders. |

Cultural Competence Outcomes |
| Outcomes and
evaluation are an essential part of every program
and strategy. This presentation will show the
critical factors to consider when implementing an
effective evaluation program, utilizing cultural
competent principles. The audience will discuss
how much culture and the evaluator’s level of
cultural competency will have an impact on an
evaluation. |

Coaching and Diversity |
| This module
presents the audience with basic tools in
promoting cultural competence and leadership
development. The purpose of this training is to
get participants to begin putting into practice
the basic elements of coaching with stakeholders
and internalizing the relationship between
cultural competence and leadership development. |

8
Values for Inclusiveness |
This session
will get participants to examine values needed in
the workplace to foster inclusiveness and an
empowering environment for members of the
organization and external stakeholders. By using
experiential exercises, participants will be asked
to assess how cultural competency principles can
be used to improve outcomes. This session will
also introduce participants to a model for
fostering leadership and organizational
development.
