Dr.
Jose Reyes is a national presenter and consultant on the
topic of Cultural Competence and Human Relations with
emphasis on program development and consumer advocacy.
Dr. Reyes has over 20 years experience in program
development, public health, culturally competent
delivery systems, child welfare, and migrant health. He
has consulted nationally with The Annie E. Casey
Foundation, AT&T Employee Assistance Program, The
National Football League Security Office, The National
Institute of Mental Health Child and Adolescent Service
System Program and several nationally known migrant
service networks like the Migrant Clinicians Network and
Migrant Health Promotion.
Born in
Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Dr. Reyes migrated to the United
States at age sixteen. He holds a Doctoral degree from
the University of Cincinnati with emphasis on Cultural
Anthropology, Educational Foundations, Counseling and
Qualitative Research. In 1984, Dr. Reyes received a
Research Fellowship from New
York University to study
mental health issues of Latino migrants. He also holds a
Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish Literature.
Dr. Reyes
has consultation experience working in areas such as the
Correctional System, Child Welfare and Substance Abuse.
He has published in the area of Culturally Sensitive
Mental Health Services for Latino Migrants. Dr. Reyes is
also a Clinical Member with the American Association for
Marriage and Family Therapy and is licensed as a
Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado. Dr.
Jose Reyes currently lives in Denver, Colorado with his
wife, Iris and son, Che.
